Ministry of Agriculture Holds Induction and Orientation Workshop for Employees

 

 

The Ministry of Agriculture on April 15-16, 2010 held an induction and orientation workshop at its 19th Street and Somalia drive offices in Monrovia. The workshop aimed at improving the institutional development, staff capacity and improved service delivery of the mandate and functions of the Ministry.

 

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Dr. Florence Chenoweth Minister of Agriculture said the agriculture sector is the bedrock of any nation and as such the Ministry of Agriculture must get in the driver’s seat and steer Liberia to development.

 

Dr. Chenoweth said the Ministry of Agriculture is the lifeblood of the country therefore employees must know the purpose, mandate, mission, vision and guiding principles of the Ministry.

 

She further said the workshop was intended to help the staff of the Ministry improve their productivity and service delivery.

 

The lead facilitator of the workshop Mrs. Ara Voker Chea Principle Director of Administration, Ministry of Agriculture provided information on the new thrust of the Ministry in terms of its Mandate, Mission and Vision, and its Core Operating Principles- (Performance, People and process).

 

In addition, the workshop covered topics on best practices in the workplace including staff expectations, ethics in the work place, the Civil Service Standing Order for Civil Servants, dress code, hygiene, grooming as well as sanitation and health.

 

Also facilitating the workshop were Dr. Dominic Tarpeh of the Governance Reform Commission and Mr. George Wilson of the Civil Service Agency.
