Agriculture Ministry Sends 29 Technical Staff to China for Specialized Agricultural Training

Monrovia, Liberia – The Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) has dispatched twenty-nine (29) staff members to the People’s Republic of China to participate in a specialized training program focused on Agricultural Product Processing and Storage.

The twenty-one-day bilateral training program, which begins in May and ends in June 2026, is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, modernize Liberia’s agricultural sector, and improve the country’s food value chain systems.

The selected participants comprise technical personnel whose professional responsibilities are directly linked to agricultural processing, storage management, post-harvest handling, and related value chain activities within the Ministry.

Through the training, participants will gain practical exposure to modern processing technologies, efficient storage systems, post-harvest preservation techniques, and innovative agricultural practices to reduce food losses, increase value addition, and improve food security.

The Ministry says the initiative aligns with the Government of Liberia’s broader agricultural transformation agenda and reflects its commitment to building a skilled workforce capable of driving sustainable growth and innovation in the sector.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Team Leader and Regional Agriculture Coordinator for Region #5, Jay Doe Welah Jr., expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Agriculture's leadership for the opportunity afforded to the delegation.

“We are grateful to the leadership of the Ministry for this opportunity to enhance our knowledge and skills,” Welah said. “As delegates, we remain committed to representing Liberia positively and returning with valuable experience that will contribute to strengthening the agricultural sector.”

The Ministry of Agriculture continues to prioritize capacity building and international cooperation as key components of its strategy to strengthen agricultural productivity, enhance food systems, and support national development.
